This position is located in Champaign, IL

Position Overview:
- This Management position involves the supervision of 10 to 12 software engineers responsible for the development of cellular phone software (specifically associated with the Linux Operating System).
- This software work includes innovative software, both low-level and application-level embedded software for cellular telephones in all current cellular technologies.
- The work includes requirements gathering, design, development, and testing of embedded software for next generation wireless products.

The specific supervision responsibilities include
- Direct management of software engineers
- Produce weekly written reports, report at weekly management status meetings
- Conduct necessary technical review meetings, report at monthly project review meetings, travel and coordinate with company's sites doing related development, and prepare annual performance appraisals of staff

Required Skills/Experience
Bachelors (or higher) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering
- At least 7 years of relevant software engineering experience: C, C++, User Interface Design, embedded software design, etc.
- Ability to produce a closely-knit development team and to work cohesively with peers.
- Must have excellent time management, communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to accurately estimate work product size and effort and to create a task schedule.

Desired Skills/Experience Recommended:
- Experience following a defined software process, with phases including requirements, design, coding, peer reviews, unit testing, configuration management, etc.
- Working knowledge of the SEI CMM is a plus.
- Previous management experience
- Experience in digital wireless protocols (GSM, CDMA, TDMA, PCS) helpful.
- Experience with operating systems development
- Experience with microprocessors, cross-development platforms and tools a plus.
- Experience with a remote development environment and the ability to interact and successfully work with developers in other groups is highly desired
