Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations
- Hardware Manager responsible for a team supporting the complete product life cycle of a family of IP set top boxes. Hardware team responsibilities including: Product Specification, Electrical & Mechanical Design & Analysis, Design Verification Testing, World-Wide Regulatory Compliance, and support of Software, Field Engineering & Repair Center. Manager will also direct the efforts of ODM Partners. Some domestic & international travel (10%) and shifting of work hours required to support ODM and Software partners.
Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance to TL9000 processes & design documentation. Develop test requirements and evaluate test results. Perform test & debug of systems of significant complexity. Demonstrate expertise with use of test equipment. Assemble and distribute test reports. Obtain regulatory and industry certifications.
Perform or assist in the development of System-Level test process and procedures. Provide direction in the development of Acceptance Test Plans (ATPs). Coordinate with QA organizations to ensure ATPs are aligned with design goals and PMRs.
Evaluate factory test plans. Oversee production launches (international travel to factory sites required).

Specific Knowledge/Skills
Expertise in the following areas is required:
- Demonstrated experience in the architecture, design, simulation, test, evaluation, and documentation of complex digital and mixed-signal designs (Embedded Microprocessors, RF, Audio, Video, DDR, PCI, USB, Ethernet, etc.).
- Solid understanding of emissions and board design practices for reducing them.
- Experience using analog, digital and communications test equipment
- Experience with managing product development in conjunction with ODM/OEM partners.
- TL9000 development practices
- Must possess excellent project and people management skills.
Experience/Knowledge in some the following areas a plus:
- Set Top Box design practices, including High-Definition Video, Audio & PLL design and RF interfaces from base band to 2.4GHz.
- Advanced audio/video decoding technologies, including MPEG2, MPEG4 AVC, WM9, VC1, Dolby, AAC & WMA.
- Networking systems and IP based protocols
- Advanced networking technologies, including HPNAv3, MoCA, HomePlugA/V, vDSL.
- Digital signal processing
- FPGA design and Verilog/VHDL coding and simulation
- Modulation and demodulation techniques (OFDM, QPSK, QAM, etc.)
A 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in either EE, CS, CE (a bachelor of applied science degree will NOT be accepted) from an accredited college or university. 10+ years management experience managing engineers in development/test environments.
